John Hersey don’t want to hear negative comments about Katie Thurston.
Although the old Bachelorette couple announced their separation on Monday, Hersey praised Thurston’s character in an Instagram comment.
Responding to a negative remark that Thurston was unable to keep a boyfriend, which was posted on a Bachelor fan accountHersey applauded the good things about their former relationship.
“You will speak a finite number of words throughout your life. I urge you to speak more kindly. Especially about someone you don’t know,” he wrote to the enemy.
“I have never been so supported or unconditionally loved by a partner. Assuming and implying that Katie is doing something wrong is not for me,” Hersey, 28, shared.
His comment ended with a plea for kindness: “The internet can be a nasty place – let’s not add to it.”

Thurston, 31, was the first to announce the breakup via an Instagram story on Monday, writing on a blank screen, “Statement: no we’re not together.”
Hersey chimed in with more details on his own Instagram Story. “Like Katie said earlier, we’re not dating anymore,” he confirmed. “The decision was not taken lightly and obviously it was not easy to take.”
“I love being able to share special moments with all of you, the funniest. The happiest. The most outrageous, the most embarrassing and the most heartfelt. But I don’t know if it will ever be easier to share the most sad,” he said. added. “I appreciate each and every one of you who has supported us through this journey. We couldn’t (and wouldn’t be) here without you.”

Hersey and Thurston met during his season of the bachelorette. Although Thurston left the series engaged to Blake Moynes, she reconnected with Hersey platonically after filming. Once she broke off her engagement, Thurston decided to pursue a relationship with Hersey.
