Green Party of Canada MP Elizabeth May said she tested positive for COVID-19.
She found out on Thursday and is “very sick,” May tweeted on Friday.
She said she self-isolated when she started to feel unwell and does not think she will be hospitalized.
May said she’s been back in Ottawa since March 20 and COVID rates in the city “are incredibly high.”
Tested positive 4 #COVID yesterday, I have been in Ottawa since March 20. The rates here are crazy high. Isolated when I started to feel bad. This disease is no joke. I don’t think I’m hospitalized, but very sick. And angry. Too many unmasked people. #staysafe #GPC #cdnpoli https://t.co/vGYY2vwCOK
She said the disease was no joke and she was angry because too many people weren’t wearing masks.
May followed up with another Tweet, saying she “isn’t as angry as it is grateful for the kind messages. Please everyone – stay safe. Now is not the time to be in crowded indoor spaces.”
