Djokovic defeats Kwon

Novak Djokovic, the men’s No. 1 seed, has never lost in the first round at Wimbledon, and Monday was no exception. Despite a serious challenge from South Korean Kwon Soon-woo Djokovic won XXXX. Kwon really challenged Djokovic, forcing him to play his best tennis in the very first match of the tournament. Kwon took a 3-1 lead in the first set, but soon found himself level with Djokovic 3-3. After that, Kwon didn’t win another game until the second set. But Kwon bounced back, winning the second set 6-3 as Djokovic made a number of unusual errors. Djokovic was back on the ball in the third set and overcame solid play from Kwon to win the fourth set and the match. With this victory, Djokovic becomes the first player in history, male or female, to win 80 matches in all four Grand Slam tournaments.

Jabeur handles Bjorklund in straight sets

Serena Williams’ recent doubles partner Ons Jabeur took care of business on Monday, beating Mirjam Bjorklund 6-1, 6-3. Jabeur, who rose to No. 2 in the WTA rankings, had no problem with Bjorklund, beating her in 54 minutes. It doesn’t look like the injury that forced Jabeur out of the doubles at Eastbourne is holding her back at the moment.
