Joe Wicks broke down in tears as he received an honorary doctorate for his health and fitness efforts during the covid pandemic.

The fitness guru – aka the Body Coach – became a physical education teacher for all out-of-school children during the lockdowns and he went on to raise over a million for Children In Need with a grueling 24-hour workout marathon .

His work was recognized by St Mary’s University in London this week and Wicks said he was “delighted”.

The 36-year-old posted images and videos on instagram of him receiving the honour.

He told his fans, “Today I received @yourstmarys university’s first honorary doctorate.

“It was awarded for my contribution to the health and fitness of the nation during the pandemic and for my charity work. I think the video at the end shows how thrilled I am to receive this award.”

“Thank you St Mary’s,” he added.

In another post the star shared a photo of him in tears as he stood on a podium and delivered his acceptance speech.

Joe Wicks takes an exercise class with pupils from Woodside Primary School, at the launch of the Lifestyle Lab pop-up in Westfield Stratford City, east London.  The pop-up features its first restore destination,

“I’m going, I’m going,” he said, adding a crying emoji to his post.

“I gave a speech today. I didn’t plan it but I knew I would end up crying. Standard lol.”

“Doctors cry too, don’t they? he joked.

The last honor comes after the fitness star got an MBE at Windsor Castle earlier this year.

Wicks still has plenty to be excited about this year, as his wife Rosie is currently expecting their third baby together.

The couple are already parents to daughter Indie, who turns four this month, and two-year-old son Marley.
