A fundraiser has been launched for a British father of four who was allegedly stabbed at a bachelor party in Portugal.
Joel Collins, from Troedyrhiw, Wales, was on his way home after being separated from his friends in the Algarve resort of Albufeira when he was stabbed, according to reports.
Wales online reported that the 35-year-old’s family say he was stabbed on July 4 was found unconscious on the street by a passerby.
His family said he is currently in intensive care after undergoing surgery.
A fundraiser launched on GoFundMe to help the family has already raised over £6,000.
The page says: “Joel was recently on a bachelor party trip with his friends in Albufuria [sic] when he was walking back to his hotel alone and was horribly attacked and stabbed 4 times.
“Joel is bravely fighting to recover in hospital in Portugal while his family is by his side in support.

“We are looking to raise awareness for those traveling safely this summer, as well as to raise funds for the family during this horrific ordeal.
“Please send your messages of support and donate what you can for Joel and his amazing family.”
The fundraiser was also shared by Alex Evans, also from Wales, who said he was also stabbed and left for dead in the same area.
He wrote on Facebook: “On May 15 this year I was stabbed 3 times and left for dead at a bachelor party in Albuferia. [sic] Portugal.
“As I was slowly recovering I was informed that it was happening again to Joel Collins. It is heartbreaking to hear as his story is very similar and my thoughts are with his family and I hope he recovers quickly .
“After talking to his family, I want to spread this to raise awareness about the knife crime happening in Albufeira as it is not made public and to urge people to stick together.
“I didn’t think I would write an article like this so soon after it happened to me, about someone who lives so close. Please if anyone could share this , because I would hate for that to happen to another family.”
