Star poet Amanda Gorman released new photo of Prince Harry & Meghan

Released in June Gormans first volume of poetry since her breakthrough on the world stage in German: “What we carry with us – Call Us What We Carry”. The poems, including “The Hill We Climb”, are divided into around half a dozen chapters, some of which are several pages long, and have unusual text arrangements. Among other things, it is about the state of the USA, the corona pandemic or the climate crisis.

The volume had already appeared in the USA a few months earlier – and of course it became a bestseller. The critics were also mostly impressed. The book offers “focused and pointed poems”, wrote the New York Times. “It contains awe and effervescence, depth and gimmick, strong poetry and weak poetry.” But perfection is not the goal either, she wrote Washington Post: “Her poetry insists that not only she but a whole country can rise to fame.”
