Fighting onions? You are certainly not alone. According to Journal of Foot and Ankle Research, more than 23% of adults between the ages of 18 and 65 live with hallux valgus, commonly known as HV or bunions. While there are surgery and treatment options, the least invasive (and obviously cheapest) alternative is to invest in a pair of shoes that don’t irritate the area further.

Luckily for you and your buns (er, onions), one shoe has the backing of podiatrists and nearly 17,000 five-star reviews from Amazon. It’s the Oofos Original Sandal and it’s incredibly comfortable – your tired toes will love hanging out with them.

Plus, they’re only $60 – a small price to pay for true comfort. And, if you have Amazon Prime, you will of course benefit from free delivery. Not a member yet? No problem. You can sign up for your 30 day free trial here. (And by the way, those who don’t have one Prime always get free shipping on orders of $25 or more.)

Here is the truth: The originals unisex sandals are made with closed cell foam to minimize odor – you can even throw them in the washing machine! They are designed to reduce energy exertion, absorb shock and also cradle and support your arch. We’ll let the doc explain why they’re so good with onions.

“The prominence of the big toe joint for those with bunions is not in contact with the shoe, which can provide relief,” explained New York podiatrist Dr. Polina Zaydenberg. “The shoes provide good propulsion, which also improves the function of the big toe joint.”

Dr. Zaydenberg is board certified by the American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry, Prevention and Treatment of Diabetic Foot Wounds and Diabetic Footwear. She’s in good company, too: the sandals (like all Oofos shoes) carry the American Podiatric Medical Association’s Seal of Acceptance.

A shopper on their third pair wrote: “I have very flat feet, bunions, my foot has less height (no fat on the top of the foot) than most people. Also, my feet hurt. Obviously, I’m not an easy person when it comes to shoes and sandals I can walk a good distance in these flip flops Get good support and less pain Oofos make my life better.

Another agreed: “I have bunions, flat feet and plantar fasciitis. I’m a medical professional and I walk all day with patients. My feet feel like my feet hurt no matter what. .. these sandals support me when I come home. In the morning, it brings happiness to my feet from my bed.”

These just might be the miracle worker your bunions need.

“It’s like walking on clouds!” shared a happy reviewer. “I have bunions and these are super comfortable and conform to my feet. I wear them all the time, so glad I found them!”
