Gareth Southgate has said West Ham striker Jarrod Bowen “richly deserves” his first senior England call-up.
Bowen and fellow uncapped Leicester defender James Justin have been included in Southgate’s squad for next month’s Nations League games.
On Bowen’s inclusion, Southgate said: “Consistently strong performance. We were definitely thinking of involving him in March before he got injured.
“He’s a goal threat and his direct journey is an interesting reminder that you don’t have to be at an elite academy – experience is a great way to go.
“He works incredibly hard for the team, which is something we want all of our players to do. He is well deserving of his call-up.”
England are set to play Hungary twice, as well as Germany and Italy, from June 4-14.
