Heavy rain in Oaxaca as Hurricane Agatha approaches southern Mexico

Strong winds and rain swept across southern Mexico on Monday, May 30, as Hurricane Agatha moved through the region.

According to National Hurricane Center (NHC), the hurricane could produce winds of up to 110 mph. The NHC forecast between 10 and 16 inches of precipitation in Oaxaca, with isolated maximum amounts of 20 inches. Life-threatening flash floods and mudslides could also occur, the NHC said.
